Henchmen Chronicles volume 1

 Yep its me. 

The guy whose tweets you read and roll your eyes on the daily. The guy whose 3 year old daughter is on par to being banned from the rock due to bad luck. The guy whose pizza and baking posts make you say "just buy the premade shit bro". The guy who was the first to own an authentic NJ Devils PK Subban Jersey. 

Lets take a step back and preface that I have no idea why I'm doing this and have no idea where its going. This is going to be peak old man yells at clouds for a few paragraphs, so just bare with me. The reason overall is because its no secret we are missing a key component to our sanity which was Novos articles; something so refreshing that we didn't know what to do with ourselves. We considered him a friend whom we'd share Raising Canes with, reminisce about our go-to Rita's orders, and anxiously await for his Chico take on me video updates at home games. There's a Bruins fan in hiding sized hole in our hearts, and the new guy simply aint cutting it. That being said, there was absolutely nothing wrong with his tweet. Nothing. Zip. Nada. 

There was a quick debate in my head about just posting a sentence reading "hm so maybe it wasn't (x) goalies fault over the last (y) years" versus the rant I'm taking you on. 

We are second in the EC in points right now, albeit a lot of teams have a lot of games less played. But something just feels off. Teams do in fact need time to gel. Most of our bottom 6 was rebuilt, injuries on defense to kick off the season, players returning from long term rehabs starting off rusty as expected, but still, something is still missing in my eyes. Can we cut the shit with Rogalski ruining Markstrom, please? The guy didn't fly to NJ and read a playbook designated from the goalie coach and just magically forget how to stop a wrist shot from the point. Im guilty here too in terms of scapegoating, but dear lord the goalie coach didn't ruin 2 veteran goalies in a 10 week period. The funny part is Allen looks better both on the ice and on the stat sheet but I don't see anyone claiming Rogalski ruined him. 

The truth is, I am tired of feeling deflated before Thanksgiving. I've been reading your dumbass tweets about how THIS is the year the Rangers are going to fall off and there's NO way the Hurricanes overcome the players they lost in fa. Guess what folks - they aren't going anywhere. I'm hoping maurojag saves that sentence for when both teams get eliminated in the first or second round because I'll be able to say "I told you they weren't going anywhere". Not to what we can control, and not we as in the fans but we as in the team; ourselves. The coaching has changed, half of the lineup has changed, the entire goaltending tandem has changed - yet if I just woke up from a coma and watched one game, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference from this team and the Lindy Ruff led fiasco a year ago. The results have overall stayed the same and its pure inconsistency from top to bottom. This team is incapable of having more than one line clicking at a time. There appears to be holes up and down the lineup (who could've seen that one coming).We are still borderline unwatchable in Newark, and the arena experience itself is an entirely different issue. Why doesn't it seem like anyone that gets a paycheck signed by HBSE seem to give a shit? That all might be aggressive and way overblown but have I ever been known as the rational henchman? 

Now, to the "point" of this article. Honestly, I don't care that the 3 month old nj.com beat writer who was assigned this job against his will seemingly doesn't care about making a name for himself (positively at least). I don't care that he laughed at the almost second own goal of the game, because id be fucking lying if I said I didn't laugh too. How couldn't you laugh? We traded multiple assets, valuable ones, for 34 year old Markstrom whose been extremely inconsistent over the last 4 years and guess what!!! Hes been extremely inconsistent! Shocker right I know. Nobody is upset with that, but you're upset with Gabe's tweet. I simply don't get it I'm sorry I just don't. That's what angers me. Gabe doesn't give a shit about his job so why the hell should we? There's a dozen things we should all be upset with before the hahahahaha tweet. If we ended up winning that game, it would've been an after thought. I don't care if he sucks at journalism and neither should you.

Ultimately what I'm trying to say is, I think a lot of people are feeling slightly discouraged by this teams start and its not a bad thing to feel. Yes they will eventually figure it out. Yes this isn't the same team that will be playing in March, April, and hopefully deep into May. But just leave this kid alone and be honest with what you are upset and frustrated with; the Ondrej Palat contract.
